Madigan investigating lollipops marketed to taste like drugs
June 23, 2005 — Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan says her office is investigating a company that manufacturers lollipops that are meant to taste like drugs. Madigan said yesterday her office will subpoena Chronic Candy of California -- which makes hemp seek flavored lollipops, which are referred to as "pot suckers." The attorney general is investigating whether the company has violated the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act. The lollipops are sold in quantities that use marijuana terms such as 'nickel bag' and 'one ounce.' Madigan says stores shouldn't sell products that encourage the use of illegal drugs.
