Its almost CANADA DAY
Blogging From Live 8
Become one of 50 bloggers to go backstage at Live 8

The gracious folks from one.org have procured 10 backstage press passes to each of 5 of the following Live 8 concerts - Philadelphia, Paris, Rome, Berlin, and Tokyo. The folks at one.org and Live 8 believe that bloggers can help to shape the media and bring a new voice and perspective - and help to set the agenda - before the G8 conference in Scotland. BTW, check out their new blog.
In addition, Richard Branson of Virgin Airlines has donated his airplane to fly the Live 8 crew from New York to Edinburgh and back, and up to five bloggers will be given the opportunity to fly to Edinburgh and back with the Live 8 group. The idea is to blog the trip, including the beginning of the G8 summit. The flight departs from JFK in New York at 7 p.m. on July 3; the same airplane will bring the bloggers and whoever else back to New York on July 7. Lodging in or near Edinburgh will also be provided.
Live 8 July 2nd -DO YOUR BIT!
Check out the ONE http://one.org/blog WE BELIEVE that in the best American tradition of helping others help themselves, now is the time to join with other countries in a historic pact for compassion and justice to help the poorest people of the world overcome AIDS and extreme poverty. WE RECOGNIZE that a pact including such measures as fair trade, debt relief, fighting corruption and directing additional resources for basic needs; education, health, clean water, food, and care for orphans would transform the futures and hopes of an entire generation in the poorest countries, at a cost equal to just one percent more of the US budget. WE COMMIT ourselves - one person, one voice, one vote at a time - to make a better, safer world for all.
The Animaris Rhinoceros Transport is a type of animal with a steel skeleton and a polyester skin. It looks as if there is a thick layer of sand coating the animal. It weighes 2. tons, but can be set into motion by one person. It stands 4.70 meters tall. Because of its height it catches enough wind to start moving.

New World Trade Center
NEW YORK (CNN) -- A revised design for the signature new tower at the World Trade Center site was made public Wednesday.
The building, dubbed the "Freedom Tower" by New York Gov. George Pataki, will remain 1,776 feet high, making it the world's tallest building and symbolic of the year of American independence.
It will retain a spire, which will emit light and is intended to echo the Statue of Liberty's torch.
But the tower will be more slender and occupy a smaller footprint on the northern end of the 16 acres where the 110-story Twin Towers once stood.
Pataki and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg will be joined by WTC developer Larry Silverstein and architect David Childs in presenting the new model at a 10 a.m. news conference on Wall Street, just blocks from Ground Zero. http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/06/29/wtc.tower.redesign/index.html

Otterbox Zippo Cargo Case
I'd call the Otterbox Zippo Cargo Case overkill, except for two niggling points: first, it's cheap (just $13), and secondly, it's gotten Department of Transportation approval for checked luggage, which means you can actually take your lighter with you on trips. If you've got to have a Zippo no matter where you go, it might be worth the trouble (not to mention how useful it'd be on camping trips and the like). http://www.uncrate.com/men/gear/travel-luggage/zippo-cargo-case-000775.php
